Diversity, not Discrimination
We favor diversity.
The more diversity a community can integrate, the healthier (and more resilient) it is. We support our communities to make mindful choices about including people based on personality, behaviors, and shared vision and values. We encourage our communities to actively seek out diversity of ethnicity, gender, sexual preference, age, wealth, and other qualities, while recognizing that groups of people who suffer from discriminatory hierarchies in our society may justifiably gather to provide themselves a safer space.
We stand against discrimination.
We will never work to enable a group that deliberately enacts racism, sexism, homo- or transphobia, or any other forms of oppression, except in so far as we can help such a group end its oppressive ways. We actively support people in identifying the ways that we all carry oppression, as forms of mental, emotional, and social dis-ease within us, and replacing them with vibrant appreciation for the power we can gain from inner and social diversity.
We are not perfect; we are committed to learning.
If you see a way that we can better live up to our ideals, please let us know. While we may not be able to accommodate every suggestion, we will listen every time, and we will do our best to incorporate what we learn into our practice.
